The rest doesn't quite live up to that, but it's still pretty solid. While it's not as bad as I remembered it, it's definitely far away from being a good movie. Rick Yune hasn't the talent nor the charisma to star as the lead actor. Jesse V. Johnson's direction is solid, but rather unremarkable. The same goes for the plot, the action, and the settings. At least it never gets boring. Eigentlich hab ich in Rick Yune immer einen gesehen, der die große Chance mal verdient hätte, aber hier war doch recht sich wieder mal um einen kleinen Jungen, dessen Familie brutal ermordet wird. Gerettet wird er von einem Unbekannten, der als Adoptivvater dient und den kleinen gleichzeitig als Killer aufzieht. Ein paar Jahre später lehnt dieser dann einen Job ab und wird selber ist die Geschichte einfach zu aufgeblasen für die kurze Laufzeit, vor allem weil man noch Brüder Nebenstory reinpackt die sehr gewollt Yune gibt schauspielerisch echt Minimum und selbst bei den Kämpfen kann man nicht viel rausholen. Stattdessen wird überraschend viel geballert, was dank Jesse V. Johnson immerhin recht ansehnlich richtig brutal wird er Film sowieso nie und es gibt nur ein paar Blutspritzer zu ist das alles immerhin vollkommen also nicht so recht, ob man den empfehlen kann, denn es bleibt leider belanglose Standardware. Written, produced and starring Rick Yune, my educated guess that the only reason why he didn't directed this movie, is because he couldn't clone himself to be both behind and in front of the camera (he does have an extra credit as "post-production supervisor"). One can only be thankful for Jesse V. Johnson's professionalism for turning this shameless ego trip into a somewhat watchable, fast paced B movie with a variety of exotic locations, a surprisingly menacing villain and Keith David as a jazz-loving, father figure assassin. Compared to Johnson's previous work, The Fifth Commandment does have some decent production value, but the action is nowhere as clean relaying way too much on late 2000's overediting with sped up frames. And as someone who clearly had aspirations to be a leading man, Yune has the acting skills and charisma of a broken vacuum cleaner. Extra half star for the Terminator-inspired police station scene. Actionsfans, die keine Berührungsängste seitens B-Movies haben, fahren eigentlich immer eine gute Runde, wenn Jesse V. Johnston die Straße Yune ist kein übles Alphatier und Bokeem immer gern gesehen. Trotzdem haben wir es so sehr mit dem Klischeebaukasten zun, dass er im zweiten Teil eigentlich seinen Bruder in Untergrundkämpfen rächen Action ist ok, aber wenn Waffensounds billig klingen bekomme ich das ich will den Move vom Cover im Film verdammt😁 Not particularly original, but a solid thriller. Filmed mostly at night in Bangkok, it looks really good. Great performance by Bokeem Woodbine. An American film that takes place in Bangkok, apparently with a foreign target audience. It certainly feels a like bit of a low budget production from some of the acting and effects, but with plenty of gun play and action it's not all Ranked2000’s RankedCrime and Law Enforcement / Investigation films RankedAssassins Ranked Workmanlike DTV from early on Jesse V. Johnson career. Not as much hand to hand fights than in his late action isdecent but not very memorable. Weak script and lead, well imagined underworld and use of Bangkok, good supporting work from Keith David and Bookem Woodmine. I got this DVD for two bucks brand new because it looked like it may be a fun, generic action movie. I was kinda right. It's definitely a generic action movie but it's not always fun. It never really slows down so it's not boring BUT it's never really all that interesting. The plot is basic and they rush through it hard. I checked the timer and was shocked that an hour had went by and there were only thirty minutes left! It seemed like the story was really just starting when the movie was about to reach it's climax. The acting from everyone other than Keith David and Bokeem Woodbine is hilarious though. Rick Yune trying to do a… Chance Templeton muss bereits als Kind mit ansehen, wie seine Eltern, von einer Gang getötet werden. Er selbst wird jedoch gerettet und wächst fortan bei seinem Retter und Adoptivvater, zusammen mit seinem Adoptivbruder Miles auf. Beide werden in der Kampfkunst und an der Waffe ausgebildet. In späterem Alter trennen sich die Wege der Brüder. Während Chance zu einem der gefürchtetsten Auftragskiller wird, arbeitet Miles als Bodyguard für Prominente. Ihre Wege kreuzen sich jedoch später wieder und beide müssen zusammen gegen einen gemeinsamen Feind Yune hat hier keine besonders gute Ausstrahlung, weswegen man ihm die Heldenrolle nicht so recht abnehmen kann. In seinen Bösewicht-Rollen in diversen anderen Filmen funktioniert das weitaus besser. Darstellerisch ist hier ansonsten alles auf gutem… Dopo vari ruoli di supporto, Rick Yune sente di avere le potenzialità per quello da protagonista, al punto da scriversi da solo una sceneggiatura e produrla. Jesse Johnson crede in quelle potenzialità e cerca di valorizzarle costruendoci intorno un onesto action thriller. Yune interpreta un killer dal passato tormentato che per una scelta affettiva si trasforma da tiratore a bersaglio; Keith David è il suo mentore, jazzista di giorno e sicario di notte. Due personaggi con un filo di caratterizzazione utile a far funzionare una storia che azzecca anche il cattivo. Le sparatorie non mancano, così come qualche corpo a corpo (fossero stati di più sarebbe andata anche meglio) in cui Yune può mostrare il suo background da artista marziale… It's fine. It looks good and it's got some goofy charm, but the action lacks punch. I feel like Jesse V. Johnson still has a great movie in him.
